NEW RIVER VALLEY UNWIRED JOINS ALL POINTS BROADBAND

Christiansburg, Va., September 29, 2016 – New River Valley Unwired (NRVU), a wireless internet service provider based in Christiansburg, announced today that it is joining All Points Broadband, Virginia’s leading hybrid-fiber-wireless Internet service provider.

“I am extremely proud of the Company that we’ve built over the past 13 years,” said NRVU founder Edwin Whitelaw. “We’ve reached the point where, in order to have access to state-of-the-art equipment and deliver the best possible service to our customers, we needed to be part of a larger organization. All Points Broadband shares our customer-centered approach and was the perfect fit for our customers, employees and community.”

“We are excited to welcome New River Valley Unwired and its customers to the All Points network,” said Jimmy Carr, CEO of All Points Broadband. “This acquisition dramatically expands our service area, and we plan to use the NRVU network and our new team members as a foundation for continued growth in the New River Valley and throughout this part of Virginia.”

All Points has hired all of NRVU’s employees and will maintain a regional office in Christiansburg. Over the next few months, the company will be making significant investments to upgrade the existing NRVU network in order to provide customers with more data, more speed and more reliable service.

“We congratulate NRVU on this milestone and look forward to working with All Points and other providers who are interested in investing in broadband infrastructure in Christiansburg,” said Christiansburg Town Manager Steve Biggs.

“We appreciate the support of the Town of Christiansburg to make this transaction a reality,” said Mr. Carr. “The Mayor, Town Council, and the Town Manager and his staff worked with us to transition and update NRVU’s partnership arrangements with the Town and we look forward to working with Christiansburg to build on this relationship. Whenever possible, we seek to partner with local governments to expand internet access and we are actively seeking additional opportunities throughout the region.”

“I congratulate NRVU and All Points on this announcement,” said Craig Meadows, the County Administrator of Montgomery County.  “Expanding internet access is a key priority for Montgomery County, and we look forward to continuing to support expanded access and competition in the region.”

NRVU customers will receive additional information regarding this transition over the next few weeks and do not need to take any action at this time. There will be no disruption of service and customers with nrvunwired.net email addresses will have uninterrupted access to their accounts.

NRVU is the fourth Virginia-based Internet service provider that All Points has acquired in less than two years.
